It's coming up to 1AM and I'm only now contemplating sleep. This has not been unusual this passed week. Unfortunately, late nights does not mean party nights. Whether it's corporate events, career-building activities or academic work, it's clear that some serious amount of prioritisation and decision making will be needed...
Regularly I find that two or more events that I'm quite keen on attending are scheduled for the same time.
Each day I'm confronted with the dilemma of deciding which events to attend Each day, I believe that I can attend both by seeing the start of one and the end of another. Each day, I look to fellow students to find out which events I've had to miss. Each day, I look forward to the week when events are no longer double-booked. Each day, I think this is unsustainable. It's not sustainable. The many events that run each day range from career-building events run by the career management office, corporate events and professional and special-interest club events. Each one of these provide valuable information in the ultimate trek to find a job and yet, it's impossible to go to all. It seems that the school deliberately overwhelms you, forcing you to prioritise and to make decisions. In a way, it's a training ground for leadership positions, where you will need to make many of these decisions each day. Each day, I get a bit closer to making those decisions!
