A commercial worth watching? Yes it can happen! What's more important is that this commercial captures the essence of what New Media is about, from an industry player that understands what the potential is.
I just watched one of the many videos on TED.COM . For those who don't know, TED.COM is an annual conference bringing together the top creative thinkers, influential people and those wanting to "make the world a better place" to advance human understanding or to encourage social growth. In so doing, I saw a commercial placed at the end of the video. It's about the "Fourth Screen" - a term used to apply to the mobile phone screen, as a medium for providing content to end-users. This particular commercial was created by Nokia, who have been actively been pushing their new media strategy. They started Q2 this year, by rebranding themselves as an Internet company and, in my opinion, are best placed to not only do the change, but understand it. Which is probably why this commercial exists. The commercial captures the essence of what New Media is about, at least within the Wireless segment and how it affects the broader generation. It's not just about the technonlogy but how users change. This is a fundamental point of New Media and how it changes people. Here's the video in all it's glory: {youtube}XpeNk3E36YU{/youtube} |
